We want you!

Do you think you could help?

Now that we have held the 2021 festival we are keen to hear from you"!

The Friends are entirely run by volunteers so we are very keen to hear from local people who love the fields and can donate some time.

We are a collection of people who live nearby and love the park and I still can’t believe that together we managed to pull off such an amazing event.

It just goes to show what volunteers can achieve when they work together.

This year’s festival was (we’ve been told) the best yet. It’s great to see that so many people from the community got so much out of the event, which just goes to show that it really does serve a dual purpose - raising funds for the park and getting the community together.

That said, it takes time and effort and can only be delivered by having enough local people willing to help. Plus, it’s not just the festival. If you visited the Friends tent on the day you will have seen the display boards where you could express your views on what improvements you want to see in the park. Each of these projects needs time and effort to get it through to completion.

So….that’s where you come in. We would love to hear from you if you think you could help in any way. That could be helping out at, or even running, next year’s festival, volunteering for a specific role such as coordinating tree planting, or just coming down for litter picking events once in a while. There are a whole range of things which would be helpful and which require a range of skills, views, backgrounds and commitment levels.

Volunteering is such a rewarding way of giving back to the local community and we will always try to make it as easy as possible to do that. For example, at present we are amassing all of our info on shared drives to make sure that information is readily available and precious time isn’t wasted searching around.

Please drop us an email at secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk with your name, any skills you think relevant, and what sort of volunteering role you have in mind.

Thanks!
